Skeld
Skeld is a degenerate rune which is used almost exclusively by the Varni people of Henge to treat aethersickness. The power conferred by this rune is to channel the entirety of the caster's magical power into a fiery explosion centered on themselves. The rune was originally isolated from the back of the bombshell turtle, a species native to the waters between the Delun mainland and Henge, which uses the rune as a form of communal self-defense. This is not its normal use, however. Instead, it is used for its ability to absorb the enormous and normally uncontrollable magical potential of the aethersick, rendering the bearer immune from accidentally absorbing other runes and therefore preventing the runaway arcane maelstrom that normally results, as well as conferring a small amount of resistance against magical effects in general.
