It is a common fantasy trope to have different species be able to reproduce with one another. Delgar embraces this trope using the following rules:
- Humans can reproduce with elves. Their offspring are half-elves of the same type as the elven parent.
- Humans and elves can reproduce with orcs. Their offspring are half-orcs.
- Half-Elf and Half-Orc are fully fledged "true-breeding" species. They are not infertile hybrids.
- Dwarves and gnomes are also reproductively compatible. Their offspring are the same species as the mother, but can inherit other traits from either parent.
- Aquatic and Desert Lizardfolk are reproductively compatible with each other. Their offspring tend to follow one parent or the other, but can have blends of features from both as well.
