It is a common fantasy trope to have different species be able to reproduce with one another. Delgar embraces this trope using the following rules:

  • All species (except warforged) can reproduce with their own species.
  • Humans can reproduce with elves. Their offspring are half-elves of the same type as the elven parent.
  • Humans can reproduce with orcs. Their offspring are half-orcs.
  • Half-Elf and Half-Orc are fully fledged "true-breeding" species.
  • Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings, Tieflings, Aasimar, Centaurs, Minotaurs, Tritons, Firbolgs, Goliaths, Genasi, Satyrs, Half-Orcs, and Half-Elves are all reproductively compatible. Their offspring are the same species as one parent or the other.
  • Bugbears, Hobgoblins, and Goblins are compatible. Their offspring are the same species as one parent or the other.
  • Kenku and Aarakocra are compatible. Their offspring are the same species as one parent or the other.
  • Tortles, Lizardfolk, Tabaxi, Kobolds, and Dragonborn are only reproductively compatible with their own species.
